The update to openDesk 1.19.0 introduces a new component, along with numerous updates to existing applications and the implementation of the requirements of the PSS Restricted profile.
With NeoBoard, openDesk gains a new whiteboard that enables teams to capture and develop ideas together in real time.
Thanks to the integration with Synapse, whiteboards are created within the chat structure. This means they can also be moved to Spaces and organised flexibly, ensuring they remain quick and easy for users to find.
Note: In the current default configuration, the whiteboard is initially disabled.
With the switch to Upstream Charts, the chat feature receives a major update in this release.
In addition to a new Matrix authentication system, Element Call is now used for audio and video calls instead of the previous legacy call solution. The integration of LiveKit is intended, in particular, to improve the performance and stability of calls.
openDesk 1.19.0 includes OpenProject 17.8.1. As well as security updates and bug fixes, the new version introduces various new features. We’ve highlighted a few of these below.
The previous version assignment for work packages has been expanded. Versions can now be used as a multi-select field, meaning that a work package can be assigned to several versions at the same time.
Note: For existing projects, this feature must first be enabled. Once the switch to the new format has been made, it cannot be reversed.
Working with sprints has also been enhanced in OpenProject 17.8.1.
Sprints and backlog buckets can now be edited together using the bulk edit function. Furthermore, changes to backlog buckets are logged in the Activities tab. This makes it easier to track changes to work packages.
The Project Timeline Widget has also been enhanced and now additionally displays milestones and sprints within the project timeline.
Among other things, the update to App Suite 8.52 has improved the search function. Search results can now be sorted, enabling users to find emails more quickly and organise them more clearly.
Please note: Technical issues have arisen with the recently introduced delayed email sending feature. For this reason, we have temporarily disabled the function.
We are working with the software provider to find a solution so that we can once again offer reliable scheduled sending.
The update of the portal to version 1.23.0 includes various security updates. These include, in particular, the update of Keycloak to version 26.7.4.
With the update from XWiki 17.10.9 to 18.4.5, we are switching from the previous LTS branch to the current Intermediate LTS branch.
This will enable new features and improvements from XWiki to be incorporated into openDesk more quickly in future.
The update to Collabora version 26.04.3 brings various bug fixes and, in particular, improvements to the creation and editing of presentations.
This update upgrades Docs, a joint project with DINUM, to version 5.6.1.
As well as numerous improvements to usability, accessibility and stability, the update introduces several new features. These include, amongst others, a search-and-replace function, word count, direct links to individual content blocks, and new maths and chart blocks.
A particular focus of openDesk 1.19.0 was on implementing the requirements of the Pod Security Standard ‘Restricted’.
The necessary adjustments were implemented across all components in order to meet the security requirements of the ‘Restricted’ profile within the openDesk deployment architecture.
With this release, we have also rotated the keys used to sign our container images and Helm charts.
Please note that the signature keys used previously are therefore no longer valid. Systems and processes that verify the signatures of openDesk artefacts must be updated accordingly to use the new keys.
When updating to openDesk 1.19.0, manual migration steps are required. You will find the necessary adjustments in our migration notes.
You can find the full changelog on openCode.
